Radiesse
Radiesse is a dermal filler from Merz Aesthetics that is made up of calcium-based microspheres and gel. It is injected into a deeper layer of the skin than many dermal fillers. This allows Radiesse to replenish your skin’s lost volume by providing structure and stimulating your own natural collagen to grow. As a result, it helps achieve long-lasting facial and hand rejuvenation.
The loss of collagen is one of the reasons the face and hands lose volume during the aging process and develop wrinkles. One treatment usually lasts up to a year and sometimes longer.
What Can Radiesse Accomplish?
Radiesse is a facial filler that works best for people with mild to moderate signs of aging who desire a fast, “non-surgical face lift.”
It is an effective way of diminishing:
- Moderate smile lines, also called nasolabial folds – lines from the nose to the mouth.
- Marionette lines from the mouth to the chin.
- A slightly sagging jawline, also called “pre-jowls.”
It can also be used for enhancements, contouring, and volumizing for:
- Cheeks and mid-face.
- Chin and jawline.
- Hollowing in the temple area.
- Hands (to restore volume and hide veins that have begun to bulge.)
What Can You Expect From a Radiesse Treatment?
A Radiesse treatment lasts about an hour and is virtually painless. The injections also contain lidocaine, which numbs the treated areas, reducing any discomfort.
What is Recovery from Radiesse Like?
One of the advantages of dermal fillers is that there is virtually no down time necessary. Slight bruising and swelling is to be expected after Radiesse, but these conditions last for a short period of just three to ten days. In the meantime, you can cover bruises with makeup. In some instances, small lumps develop for a brief time during the healing process, but these are not usually visible to others.
Within a few days, once the Radiesse has settled into the area(s) treated, you will begin to see and enjoy your refreshed appearance.
